When you go to Milan, see the Last Supper!

It's one of the greatest masterpieces of genius Leonardo da Vinci, "Last Supper (Cenacolo Vinciano)" in the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. It's also registered on the World Heritage Lists.

To see this international famous wall painting, every day many tourists come here from all over the world. It was produced during 1494-1498, and was drawn on the wall of a dining room of the Church directly. Therefore, it has never been brought outside for some exhibitions etc. It's exactly considered as Milan's world-class treasure. Santa Maria delle Grazie Church itself is known as a building of the Renaissance period and had received damage during World War II. However, "Last Supper" was remaining miraculously unharmed.

How to reach "Last Supper"

From the Duomo, take a tram to San Siro. It takes less than 10 minutes. When you see scenery like the right photo and your tram stops, get off there. You'll see many people waiting in a long line at the square of the Church. This Santa Maria delle Grazie Church was a convent once, and the Sforza Family renovated it to a church. And in the ex dining room of the old Abbey, you can find "last supper".

A visit of "Last Supper" is organized in a group of max. 25 people. The time is limited to 15 minutes. From the entrance to this dining room4or 5 glass doors separate a passage and every few minutes you can go ahead to the "Last Supper" gradually. When the doors open one after another, your expectation is growing little by little.

An emotional meeting

At the moment when the last door opens, you can feel a smell of the history of 500 years. "Last supper" is illuminated lightly in the mysterious darkness. It would be well matched to beautiful mass songs. We'll know the meaning of a word "Darkness is one part of the Light".
The perfect harmony of light and darkness. Christ is drawn on the center of the perspective line. It is like a witness of the history and starts to talk to us something. It seems like you can hear the voices of the people portrayed. How realistic and how mysterious! A magnificent experience in limited time of 15 minutes.

"One of you is trying to betray me"

This painting represents the precious moment of the accusation of the traitor Judas.
"Last Supper" drawn by Leonardo da Vinci implicates the universe view of Christianity. It will be definitely one of the largest "heritages" of your travel to Milan.
